The short version
We store a single flag in your browser so the banner at the bottom of the page does not greet you on every visit. That flag is not an advertisement tracker. It does not follow you to other websites.
What is stored
- Name: gqu-cookie-2026
- Where: local storage in your browser, on this site only
- Value: either “accept” or “essential”, matching the button you pressed
- Purpose: remember that you have already answered the banner
- Lifetime: until you clear site data, or until you choose again from Cookie settings in the footer
Essential and the other button
Both choices only record that the banner was answered. “Accept” and “Essential only” do not switch on a hidden tracker, because this journal does not ship one. We keep the two buttons so the choice is explicit and so a later year can add an optional tool without pretending it was always there.
What we do not use
No advertising cookies. No social plugins. No resale of a visit. Fonts may be requested from Google Fonts when a page loads; that request is covered by Google’s own policy, and it is separate from our preference flag.
How to refuse or delete
Use “Essential only” on the banner, or open Cookie settings in the footer and choose again. To remove the flag entirely, clear site data for gamerquestuniverse.com in your browser settings. The banner will return on the next visit, which is the honest result.
More of the picture
Letters you send, and the rest of how we handle a reader, are described in the privacy policy. Questions can go to desk@gamerquestuniverse.com.
